Richmond, VA – Travelers Marketing and the Virginia DOT announced the launch of the Safety Rest Area "Safe Phone Zones" Sponsorship program with GEICO Insurance as the sponsor today. Sponsorship of the 43 Safety Rest Areas and Welcome Centers in Virginia includes highway signs that direct motorists to the rest area facilities where they can safely use their phones for calling, texting, surfing and accessing mobile apps.

Richmond, VA – Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has awarded a contract to CRH Catering Co., Inc. to develop and manage a new program that will expand traveler services at the Commonwealth's 42 safety rest areas and welcome centers, and to generate additional revenue to offset rest area operating costs.

When somthing big and black whacks my window, I move out of denial. I'd been running scenarios in my head for maybe a mile or so Friday afternoon: Wild winds knocking debris all over I-495 make the car handle oddly. The weird sound is coming from that guy over there in the high-speed lane. Jerk, Making all that noise. And now, on top of everything, it's starting to smell funny. Sheesh.
